May 21, 2008 - Hamilton Jordan - RIP

I had the enormous privilege to briefly know Hamilton Jordan. He died Tuesday after a long, long battle against cancer. Hamilton was one of those political superstars that I used to marvel when I was a kid (the way “normal” kids would admire a baseball all-star). At 34 years old Hamilton had already been instrumental in getting a little-known Governor from Georgia elected president and had risen to White House Chief of Staff. He was a wily political strategist who had a knack for understanding the currents of the American electorate in a really turbulent time. He was a nice Karl Rove.

I got to know Hamilton through Unity08 — which I helped to get off the ground along with Hamilton and a few other political campaign vets in an effort to forge a unity presidential ticket in 2008. From the moment I met him I liked Hamilton. There could not have been a more gracious, unassuming, genuine fellow in politics. And I can’t imagine his worst political enemy being able to say a mean word about the guy. Hamilton was the kind of political pro that our increasingly truculent and confrontational political system aches for. Tough as nails, stubborn in his core beliefs, but always with a fast smile, friendly demeanor and upmost respect for those that disagreed with him. I will miss him. The country will miss him more.

April 21, 2008 - DPS Foundation Annual Report

Anyone that knows Peak and our peeps, knows how much we love working with non-profits that are doing good and grand things — and showing off our design/etc. chops and creative approaches to projects at the same time. So we were thrilled when our pals at the Denver Public Schools Foundation asked us to take a crack at their 2007 annual report. We think Manuela Tar did an incredible job in striking the perfect balance of delivering a high-polish design in an effective, cost-conscious package. Take a peek at the DPS Foundation Annual Report here.

March 21, 2008 - Coloradans For Sensible Solutions

We’re proud to again be working with the good folks at Coloradans for Sensible Solutions this legislative session. The group, an alliance of auto insurance providers, hired Peak to help with public educational issues to help spread the word about important insurance issues facing consumers. In addition to building their web site, we’ve produced television and radio spots as well as print and web advertising.
